A two-day training workshop on safe food preparation has started at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University in the capital on Tuesday with the aim at building university students’ good health.

Around 20 teachers, 30 students and 30 cooks from dining and canteens of different halls participated in this training workshop jointly organised by the university and Bangladesh Food Safety Authority’s STIRC project with the support of the Japanese government.


The two-day training workshop was inaugurated by Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University vice-chancellor Md Abdul Latif in the conference room of the administrative building of the university on Tuesday.

The university food safety course coordinator Professor Nazneen Sultana presided over the programme where pro-vice-chancellor Professor Md Belal Hossain, dean of post graduate studies Professor M Salahuddin Mahmud Chowdhury and project director and Bangladesh Food Safety Authority secretary Aktar Mamun spoke as a special guest.

Project Team Leader Atsushi Kayama, Professor Mohammad Ariful Islam and Md Masud Alam also spoke at the training programme conducted by Professor Tajul Islam Chowdhury.

At the beginning of the opening ceremony, 20 students admitted to the MS in food safety course this year were welcomed with flowers. Certificates will be issued to the trainees at the end of the two-day training.
