
A fire on Thursday morning broke out in the Notun Arot area of Konabari in Gazipur leaving seven mini factories and three shops burnt.
No casualties were reported in the incident.
The fire broke out at about 6:00am at a shop and the flames quickly spread to adjacent shops and mini T-shirt factories, according to the Fire Service and Civil Defence.
Three fire fighting units worked on the spot to bring the fire under control, said Konabari Modern Fire Station Warehouse inspector Saiful Islam.
They brought the fire under control at about 7:45am.
Three shops including a salon, television-refrigerator repairing shop, and seven mini T-shirt factories, along with their machines and materials, were burnt in the fire.
Gazipur fire service deputy assistant director Md Abdullah Al Arefin said that the fire might have originated from a short circuit.
The exact cause and the extent of the damage will be determined after further investigation, said Abdullah.
