The results of the Higher Secondary Certificate and equivalent examinations of this year will be published on October 15.

Confirming the news, Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee chair professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar on Monday said that this year all 11 education boards under the education ministry would publish the results separately at 11:00am on October 15.

This year the results of the six cancelled exams of the HSC and equivalent exams will be published through the subject mapping method based on the results of the Secondary School Certificate and equivalent exams.

Every year the results of the public exams like SSC, HSC and equivalent exams were handed over to the prime minister by the board chairmen of nine general boards, Bangladesh Madrassah Education Board and Bangladesh Technical Education Board before publishing the results.

Unlike other years, this year no such central programme would be held, said professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar, also chairman of Dhaka board.

‘The students will get results from the educational institutions, board websites and through text messages as usual,’ he said.

He added that no decision was taken yet to hold press briefing by the education ministry for publishing the board results like other years.

The HSC and equivalent exams were originally scheduled to be held between June 30 and August 21 this year. Accordingly, four examinations were held duly.

During the uprising of the students, the authorities had suspended the exams at different times from July 18 to August 10.

After the fall of the Hasina government, the exams then were rescheduled to be started from August 11 which was again rescheduled to be resumed from September 11.

In the face of student protest, the government on August 20 cancelled the remaining six examinations of the postponed HSC and equivalent examinations.

Cancellation of the exams drew criticism from many educationists and experts.

A total of 14.5 lakh students — 7.5 lakh male and 7 lakh female — sat for the exams from 9,463 educational institutions this year.
