The committee appointed to review the age limit for entry into the civil service jobs has expressed positive views about raising the limit as demanded by a section of students.

The demand for the increasing the age limit is logical, said Abdul Muyeed Chowdhury, chief of the committee, on Wednesday.

Muyeed Chowhudry, also a retired bureaucrat who was speaking to reporters after a meeting with representatives of the students’ group at the Secretariat, said that they were yet to decide the new age limit.

The students have been demanding for long to increase the age limit to 35 years from the current 30 years.

‘We will give recommendations soon,’ said the committee chief.

Answering a question on the logic behind increasing the age limit, the committee chief said that many government job aspirants had been facing problems due to the Covid-19 pandemic and session jam.

Besides, the age limit for entering government jobs in many countries was higher while the United States maintained no limit, he added.

The committee, formed on September 30, has been asked to give recommendations by seven working days.

Russel AL Mahmud, a representative of the students, said that they had a very successful discussion with the committee.

He hoped that the committee would give positive recommendations which were elaborated at a presentation during the meeting.
