The primary and mass education ministry on Monday formed a consultation committee for submitting recommendations on quality improvement of primary and non-formal education.

The nine-member committee is headed by BRAC University professor emeritus Manzoor Ahmed.


The ministry issued a circular on the day in this regard.

The members of the committee are – former secretary and former director general of the Directorate of Primary Education Khandakar Md Asaduzzaman, BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology registrar and former director general of Bureau of Non-Formal Education Md Rafiquzzaman, former additional secretary Chowdhury Mufad Ahmed, Gonoshahajjo Sangstha director Begum Samsi Hasan, BRAC University’s BRAC Institute of Educational Development executive director Erum Mariam, Dhaka University’s Institute of Education and Research associate professor Mohammad Mahboob Morshed and Shibram Adarsha Government Primary School former head teacher Md Nurul Alam.

Primary and mass education ministry joint secretary (school) Md Asaduzzaman is the member secretary of the committee.

The circular read that the committee would submit recommendations on quality improvement of primary and non-formal education, infrastructural development and management of primary and non-formal education and improve the teaching and learning activities.

The committee will review the existing teaching and learning activities, training and skill development activities, research and overall management structure in primary education and submit recommendations for the issues.

The committee will also determine the demand for the necessary reforms of the primary education management structure by consulting the stakeholders.

For non-formal education, the committee will also review the existing activities and management structure and submit recommendations for improvement.

The circular added that the committee can take opinions from experts, educationists or others, hold workshops and inspect any institute under the ministry.
