The police on Wednesday recovered the floating body of a farmer in a pond at Paba in Rajshahi, two days after he went missing on Monday.
The deceased, Md Abdullah, 45, was a resident of Madanhati village in the upazila.
Monirul Islam, officer-in-charge of Paba police station, said that people of the area noticed that Abdullah鈥檚 body was floating in the pond near his house on Wednesday morning, and informed the police.
Mentioning that they found a rope on his neck tied with a bamboo, the OC said that after killing Abdullah, someone tied his body to a bamboo and submerged in the pond.
鈥楾here were injury marks on his neck. We have sent the body for autopsy at Rajshahi Medical College,鈥� he said, adding that processing of filing a murder case with the police station in this connection was underway.
