
A Dhaka court on Saturday placed former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan’s son Safi Muddaser Khan Joty on seven-day remand in an attempted murder case during the August 5 clash in Ashulia.
Dhaka chief judicial magistrate Md Saiful Islam passed the order after hearing the remand petition as the police sought 10-day remand in custody, Dhaka district superintendent of police Ahmad Muyeed said.
Ashulia police station’s sub-inspector and also the case’s investigation officer Abu Taher Mia produced him before the court.
The SP said that Safi Muddaser was arrested at a house at Uttara sector-14 at about 3:30am on Saturday with the help of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police detective branch.

Rubel at Cumilla’s Daudkandi for his alleged shooting at students and people with firearms in his two hands during the student-led mass uprising in Rajshahi.
He was arrested in an overnight drive in the early hours of Saturday, said a press release.
The release also said that the accused opened fire holding two pistols in his two hands during the mass uprising at Boalia in Rajshahi on August 5.
RAB legal and media wing director Lieutenant Colonel Munim Ferdous told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that they would hand over Rubel to the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police.
‘Several cases were filed against Rubel,’ Munim added.
