The Southeast University on Thursday at its Multipurpose Hall in Dhaka organised a discussion and prayer ceremony in remembrance of the university’s students along with all the martyrs across the country killed in the anti-discrimination student movement.

Presided over by the university’s vice-chancellor Professor Yusuf Mahbubul Islam, the pro-VC of the university Professor M Mofazzal Hossain, and family members of the martyrs spoke at the ceremony.


In a written statement, chairman of the board of trustees of the university, Rezaul Karim, expressed his condolences to the families of the martyrs and the injured.

He mentioned that the sacrifice and bravery of the martyrs for the country would continue to serve as an inspiration to all.

Dean of Southeast business school and convener of the event implementation committee, Professor Md Sirajul Islam, delivered the inaugural speech at the event, which was attended by registrar of the SEU Kazi Fakhruddin Ahmed, deans, department heads, faculty members, staff, and students.

Prior to the discussion and prayer ceremony, plaques bearing the names of the four martyrs – Md Rabbi Mia, Rakib Hossain, Imtiaz Ahmed Jabir, and Robiul Islam Limon, – were unveiled at the university’s halls named in their memory.

Each of the four martyrs’ families was presented with a check of Tk 10 lakh at the event, which was concluded with a prayer and supplication, led by Md Ataur Rahman Miazi, professor of Islamic history and culture at Dhaka University.
