In a significant reshuffle within the judiciary, 81 lower court judges of various ranks have been transferred and assigned to different stations.
The move follows the interim government's initiative to reorganise the judiciary after fall of the government of Sheikh Hasina on August 5 through a student-led mass uprising.
According to four circulars issued by the law ministry on Thursday afternoon, the transferred judges include 22 district judges, 15 joint district judges, and 44 senior and assistant judges.
The circulars also mentioned that these transfers and postings were made in consultation with the Supreme Court.
Officials at the ministry said on Thursday that further transfers of additional district judges were currently in progress.
