Students of the University of Dhaka on Thursday submitted a memorandum to the vice-chancellor, demanding ban on politics of teachers, students, officers, and employees of the university on the campus.Â
In the two-point demand memorandum, they also demanded the election of the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union immediately.
We want to get rid of the system that various student organisations, especially Awami League-backed Chhatra League, established on the campus in the past 15 years, they said.
Referring to the activities of the Chhatra League during the previous government, the students said, ‘In the name of guest rooms and common rooms in the halls, physical and mental torture was inflicted on students just to achieve their fascist interests.’
Urging to hold the DUCSU election immediately, they said, ‘We are in favour of electing representatives of students through a democratic process.’
