Students under the platform of Student Movement Against Discrimination on Wednesday urged all people and students to refrain from filing cases in a wholesale manner to harass innocent people.
The platform that led a mass uprising forcing Sheikh Hasina to resign and flee to India, stated that filing of wholesale cases without proper verification would give opportunity to the real perpetrators to escape justice.
‘In some places, cases are being filed against innocent people out of personal vendettas,’ stated the platform amid the filing of wholesale murder cases against deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina, former ministers and other Awami League leaders and activists after the fall of the AL regime on August 5.
Condemning the filling of wholesale cases, the platform said that the process would bring back the culture of impunity fostered by Awami fascism.
In a press release, it urged all not to harass innocent people by filing false cases without verification.
‘Please refrain from all activities that could allow the real perpetrators to go unpunished,’ said the press release signed by a coordinator of the platform, Tahmid Al Muddassir Chowdhury.
It also said that supporters of Awami League-led government committed many criminal offences during its rule.
Instead of bringing those perpetrators to justice, the law enforcement agencies and judiciary, influenced by the fascism, harassed the victims, said the press release, adding that every crime and massacre would be justly prosecuted in the new Bangladesh.
