Economist Debapriya Bhattacharya on Sunday said that he selected 10 members to be included in white paper preparation committee on country’s economy.

Debapriya, who has been appointed by the interim government to lead the committee, also said that the committee might not be limited to the criteria suggested in this regard.

He was talking to reporters after a meeting with finance adviser Salehuddin Ahmed at the finance ministry.

He, however, did not name the selected members of the committee.

The white paper will be prepared focusing on public finance, inflation, external balance, energy and power, private investment and employment in the country in 90 days.

The decision to appoint the committee has been taken to examine the economy already hamstrung because of corruption, misappropriation of bank funds, capital flights and the market syndicate indulged by the immediate past political regime for the past one and a half decades.

The interim government led by Nobel laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus assumed power after former prime minister Sheikh Hasina was forced to resign and flee to India amid a student-led mass uprising.

According to a release by the press wing of the chief adviser’s office, the white paper is imperative to implement decisions on structural reforms, capacity building of the regulatory bodies, curbing corruption, stabilising banking sector, tax reform and attracting foreign direct investment to overcome the economic stresses.            Â
