Workers of a textile mill on Saturday blocked the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway at Sreepur to press their demands, including the job security, proper profit sharing and holidays.

Witnesses said that the workers of Paramount Textile Mill blocked the highway for two and a half hours, which created huge public sufferings.


The workers of the Paramount Textile Mill complained that the factory management forced workers for resignation at different times and gave only three-day holidays in the Eid festival.

As they discussed the factory management repeatedly and they did not solve the issue, the workers took the street to press their demands.

Industrial police and petrol army talked to the workers and request to leave the highways around 4:45pm.

Human resource officer of the factory Md Mainuddin said that the factory authority continued dialogue with workers to solve the issue.
