A case has been lodged against some police officials over beating up former chief whip of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, Zainul Abdin Farroque, near the parliament complex on July 6, 2011.
The case was filed following the complaint of Farroque, also BNP Chairperson鈥檚 Advisory Council member, with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station Monday afternoon.
Former DB chief Harun-Or-Rashid and joint commissioner of the DMP Biplob Kumar Sarker were among the accused.
In the case statement, Farroque mentioned that the police beat him with sticks and kicked him with boots, intending to kill him.
On July 6, 2011, Farroque, the then opposition chief whip, had come under police attack in front of the parliament building when he was leading a procession during a strike called by BNP.
On the following day, police had filed a case against Farroque, accusing him of obstructing government activities during the hartal hours.
