
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University vice-chancellor Professor Dr Deen Mohd Noorul Huq on Saturday said that they supported the logical demands of the Students Movement Against Discrimination.
He made the remark at a peace rally organised by doctors, nurses and officials at the Central Shaheed Minar in the capital, said a press release.Â
Mentioning that they support the logical demands of the Students Movement Against Discrimination and almost all the demands of the students have been accepted, he said, ‘You have to be patient to implement the rest of the demands. Government should be given some time.’
‘We want peace to return to the country. But the movement of the young students has been overshadowed by evil forces,’ said the VC, adding that they wanted peace, progress, development, security of life.
‘We want to live in peace and harmony and friendly environment with all people,’ he mentioned.
Former secretary general of Swadhinata Chikitshak Parishad MA Aziz said that a judicial inquiry committee had been made in the case of the injured and killed students.
The students participating in this movement made it clear that those who committed violence and destructive activities were not involved in the movement. The young student movement has been robbed, he added.
BSMMU former VCs Professor Dr Mahmud Hasan, Professor Dr Kanak Kanti Barua, pro-VC (academic) Professor Dr Mohammad Atiqur Rahman, pro-VC (research and development) Professor Dr Moniruzzaman Khan, former president of SWACHIP Dr M Iqbal Arslan, among others, attended the rally.Â
The press release also said that the BSMMU unit of SWACHIP also held a rally with the aim of strengthening the hands of the prime minister Sheikh Hasina and keeping the ongoing development and progress of the country abreast and confronting the current evil forces.
