A tourist drowned in Dhalai River at Companiganj upazila in Sylhet on Thursday.
The deceased Ismail Hossain, 28, was the son of Shahab Uddin of Nangalkot area in Cumilla, police said.
Local residents reported that Ismail went into the river at Sadapathar, a tourist spot in Companiganj upazila, at about 1:00pm to take a bath. He went missing after being swept away by the strong current of the river.
Companiganj police station鈥檚 sub-inspector, Ajay Chandra Roy, confirmed Ismail鈥檚 death to 抖阴精品.
He said that the victim鈥檚 companions recovered him, later, in an unconscious state from the river and took him to the local upazila health complex.
鈥楾he attending doctors at the hospital declared him dead on arrival,鈥� the police officer said.
