The police arrested four individuals and sent them to jail, following a case filed over the rape of a young woman in Muladi upazila of Barishal Friday night.
The arrested are Fazle Rabbi, 20, son of Alamgir Akan of Charpadma village under Safipur union, Baten Gomsta, 22, son of deceased Azahar Gomsta, Ruhul Amin, 20, son of Aziz Bepari and Nabil Khan, 20, son of Kalam Khan from the same union.
Muladi police station officer-in-charge Muhammad Zakaria stated on Saturday that the four accused were apprehended in the Charpadma area of the upazila and subsequently sent to jail through the court.
The OC added that the arrested individuals admitted to the allegation during preliminary interrogation.
The incident occurred in Charpadma area Thursday afternoon. The victim informed her parents after returning home, and her father lodged a written complaint against five individuals with the Safipur police outpost.
Efforts were ongoing to apprehend the absconding accused Robin Bepari, 20, son of Abul Kalam Bepari, according to the OC.
