Firefighters on Wednesday rescued a 14-year-old domestic help, who was stuck on the seventh-floor window of an eight-storey building while fleeing from the Bashundhara Residential Area.
According to the police, the girl lived with her grandmother, who used to work as a domestic help at the 5th-floor apartment of the building.
The incident took place at about 10:30am while she was trying to climb down the building.
She, however, managed to climb down a floor and got stuck there.
Later, a witness called the national emergency hotline 999 and informed the matter.
Anwar Sattar, responsible for media and public relations for the unit, said that the girl wanted to visit her mother.
‘She had a fight with her grandmother as she didn’t allow her to go to visit her mother and later she tried to flee,’ he said.
He said that a team from Baridhara Fire Station rushed to the scene and rescued her without any injuries.
Vatara police station officer-in-charge Makarius Das confirmed the news and said that the girl was in their custody.
Police said, ‘We informed her mother. She is coming from Narsingdi.’
