The government allocated Tk 100 crore in the proposed budget for the financial year 2024-25 to carry out adaptation activities aiming to cope with the adverse impacts of climate change.

Finance minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali proposed the allocation while placing the budget for the financial year 2024-25 in the House on Thursday.


In his budget speech, Mahmood Ali said that adaptation and mitigation activities to face climate change risks were being given importance in all the development plans of the government.

Mentioning that Bangladesh is one of the most vulnerable countries regarding climate change, he said that considering the depth and extent of these impacts, the government was taking all the necessary steps to increase the capacity of adaptation to climate change and reduce the impacts.

To speed up activities in this regard, the finance minister said that he proposed a special allocation of Tk 100 crore in this year鈥檚 budget.
