The Mongla Port Authority published the summary of its income-expenditure for the month of April for the financial year 2023-2024 on Wednesday.
A total of 63 ships arrived in April 2024 whereas total 52 ships arrived in April, 2023. A total of 6.37 lakh tonnes of cargo was handled in April while 4.67 lakh tonnes of cargo was handled in April, 2023.
The port handled 2189 TEU containers during the month of April. On the other hand, a total of 1822 TEU containers were handled in the month in 2023.
In the month of April, a total revenue of Tk聽24 crore 14 lakh 53 thousand has been collected. On the other hand, in the month of April, 2023, the revenue of Tk聽20 crore 12 lakh 61 thousand was collected, which means that in April this year, Tk聽4 crore 1 lakh 92 thousand more revenue was collected.
A total of eight container ships arrived in the month of April, 2024 which is a unique record in the history of Mongla port, said a press release.
It should be noted that a total of 726 ships arrived at the port till April, 2024 of the fiscal year 2023-2024, while a total of 708 ships arrived till April, 2023 of the fiscal year 2022-2023.
