Police recovered the body of a farmer from his house at village Borokhari in Magura鈥檚 Sadar upazila on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Hafizur Lashkar, 63, of the village.
Magura Police Station officer-in-charge Mehedi Hasan confirmed the matter.
Hafizur鈥檚 body was found near his house at about 4:00am on Tuesday, he said.
The deceased鈥檚 son Tamim Lashkar, said that they all went to sleep after 10:00pm and woke up to find their father鈥檚 body in a corner of the room after Fazr.
Hearing their screams, the villagers came and informed the police.
Police recovered Hafizur鈥檚 sandals from inside the canal and saw bloodstains near neighbour Harun鈥檚 house on the other side of the canal.
Meanwhile, Harun, 40, and Faruk, 38, were on suspicion of their involvement in the incident. A case has been filed with Magura Police Station in this regard.
The body had been sent to Magura morgue for autopsy, the OC added.
