The police on Sunday arrested a youth for beating two police constables reportedly for asking to see his motorcycle-related documents.

The arrested is Md Sohan, 23, a resident of Shyampur village of Katakhali municipality area in Rajshahi.

SI Ekramul said that after constable Shamim’s signal, Sohan stopped his motorcycle, and wanted to know why he was stopped despite having a helmet and necessary documents with him.

When constable Shamim asked Sohan to show the documents to him, the latter locked into an altercation with Shamim, he said, adding that Sohan, at one stage of the altercation, punched Shamim on the face, after the latter had unplugged the key from the motorcycle and kept it with him.

Sohan also beat up constable Shahidul with a wooden slice, lying on the roadside, when the latter went to save his fellow, the police officer added.

Ekramul said that he filed a case against Sohan for obstructing the law enforcers to carry out their duties and beating two of them.

However, Sohan’s version could not be known as police took him in custody immediately following the incident.
