
On the occasion of World Hypertension Day 2024, a rally was held at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University on Saturday.
BSMMU vice-chancellor professor Deen Md Nurul Haque was the chief guest in the programme, said a press release.
Prime minister’s personal physician professor ABM Abdullah spoke as a special guest in the rally, where BSMMU professor Sajal Krishna Banerjee was present as an honoured guest.
BSMMU’s cardiology department organised the event with professor Chowdhury Meshkat Ahmed in chair.
After the rally, a seminar, presided over by BSMMU provost and cardiologist professor SM Mustafa Zaman, was held. The chief librarian of clinical cardiology professor Md Harisul Haque spoke in the seminar, where professor Jahanara Arju was the keynote speaker.
Professor Deen Md Nurul Haque said that awareness about high blood pressure should be spread countrywide. People’s eating habits should also be changed.
‘Currently people are dying more due to non-communicable diseases, like high blood pressure, cancer, diabetes. The medical community should come forward to prevent this,’ he added.
