
The Department of Public Health of the American International University-Bangladesh and the Bangladesh Cricket Board jointly organised a workshop titled ‘Heat Illness Prevention and Management’ in Dhaka recently, said a press release on Saturday.
Professor Md Abdur Rahman, pro-vice-chancellor of the AIUB, was a chief guest at the event, while Dr Muhammad Wasif Alam, faculty and head of the public health department of the AIUB, and Dr Debasis, head of physicians at the BCB, spoke at it.
The keynote speaker spoke on the risk factors of heat illness, its signs, and symptoms, acclimatisation to heat exposure, the importance of humidity in the air along with ambient air temperature, the usage of proper shades, and the criticality of drinking clean, cold water as the best prevention of heat illness.
BCB members, BCB national curator M Gamini Silva, and the faculties of the AIUB attended the programme.
