The department of business administration, Northern University Bangladesh, organised a week-long ‘Business Festival’ on its permanent campus at Ashkona in Dhaka on Sunday.

Industry minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun was present as chief guest at the opening ceremony, where Khosru Chowdhury, lawmaker from Dhaka-18 constituency, chairman of NUB trust professor Abu Yusuf Md Abdullah, Muhammad Samsul Arefin, information and technology ministry secretary, were present as special guests, said a press release.


A total of 20 universities from all over the country participated in the business case. Some 35 business idea competitions will be held during the festival.

Nurul Majid thanked the NUB authorities for organising the business case and business idea competition to realise the vision-2041. He exhorted the students to strive hard to achieve their desired goals.

Prof Abu Yusuf said that Bangladesh stood on the threshold of a new era, where the dreams of the youth were mixed with the aspirations of the nation.

‘In this era of globalisation, we need entrepreneurs who will create jobs, solve problems, and define themselves to develop the nation. Countless entrepreneurs, including Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg have managed to make their mark in the world through their own efforts,’ he added.

NUB vice-chancellor professor Anwar Hossain, members of the board of trustees, registrar, deans of various faculties, heads of departments, teachers, and students were present at the event.
