A nine-year-old child was allegedly killed after being raped on her way home from school in Cumilla Sadar South upazila on Monday.
The child鈥檚 mother filed a murder case with Cumilla Sadar South Model Police Station on Monday evening.
The victim, a student of Class III at Sonali Shishu Vidyaniketan Kindergarten School, did not return home after school was over at 10:00am.
The child鈥檚 mother went to Cumilla Sadar South Model Police Station to lodge a complaint about the child鈥檚 disappearance.
Later around 3:00pm, the body of the child was found at a paddy field near Bansh Mura next to Khayish Mosque in Goliara North union.
The police went to the spot and recovered the body.
The mother said that she cannot assume any reason for the murder as her family had no enmity with anyone.
鈥業 demand the highest punishment for those who killed my child,鈥� she added.
Cumilla Sadar South Model Police Station officer-in-charge Alamgir Bhuiyan said, 鈥業nitially, it is believed that the child was killed after being raped. But the fact can be ascertained after receiving the autopsy report,鈥� the police official said.
