
Law enforcement agencies on Monday arrested a total of 49 suspected members of Kuki-Chin National Front, also known as KNF, during drives at several places in Ruma upazila of Bandarban.
Bandarban district superintendent of police Saikat Shahin said that the 49 suspected members of KNF were arrested during drives conducted by the joint forces.
He said that the joint forces also seized several firearms and locally made sharp weapons from the arrestees’ possession.
The law enforcement agencies began the joint drive against the KNF, which allegedly carried out attacks on three banks and police installations, looted over Tk 15 lakh, and snatched away 14 firearms and over 400 bullets from the police and Ansar battalion between April 2 and 3.
They allegedly abducted a Sonali Bank branch manager who was later rescued by the Rapid Action Battalion.
