
Bangladesh continued their struggle for consistency in the 45th Chess Olympiad as both the men’s and women’s teams lost to their respective rivals in the fourth round in Budapest, Hungary, on Saturday.
Bangladesh’s men’s team lost to France by 3.5-0.5 points in the open section, while the women’s team conceded a 3-1 point loss to Austria.
Women’s and men’s teams are now at 65th and 78th positions, respectively, with four points each from four rounds.
FM Manon Reja Neer drew against 2023 world junior champion GM Maurizzi Marc’Andria, but IM Fahad Rahman lost to GM Vachier-Lagrave Maxime, GM Enamul Hossain lost to GM Fressinet Laurent, and GM Niaz Murshed lost to GM Lagarde Maxime.
In the women’s section, FM sister-duo WCM Walijah Ahmed and WFM Wadifa Ahmed earned draws against WIM Exler Veronika and WIM Hapara Elisabeth of Austria, respectively.
WFM Noshin Anjum and WCM Nusrat Jahan Alo lost to WGM Theissi Pokorna Regina and WIM Schloffer Jasmin-Denise of Austria, respectively.
