The Institute of Statistical Research and Training of Dhaka University held the orientation for the 31st batch students and farewell reception for the 26th batch at the auditorium of the Teachers-Students Centre on Sunday.

DU pro-vice-chancellor, academic, Mamun Ahmed was present as chief guest at the event, which was presided over by director of the institute Professor Tamanna Hawlader, said a press release.


Acting dean of the faculty of science Professor Abdus Salam spoke as special guest while convener of the event organising committee Professor Zahida Gulshan delivered the welcome address at the event.

Professor Mamun Ahmed called on the students to prepare themselves to face the challenges of globalisation by acquiring skills in technology.

He said that students had got the opportunity to get admission at Dhaka University through a competitive admission test. ‘By utilising this opportunity, students should develop into skilled human resources and fulfil the dreams of their parents.’

He called upon the students to work together to take the university forward in the field of education and research, emphasising on getting involved in sports and co-curricular activities for physical and mental well-being.
