BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology organised a programme titled Voices for Palestine: A Solidarity Event on the BUFT permanent campus at Nishatnagar of Turag in Dhaka on Thursday.

The programme aimed to express solidarity with the people of Palestine and raise awareness about their ongoing humanitarian struggle, said a press release.


Yousef SY Ramadan, ambassador of the state of Palestine to Bangladesh, attended as chief guest at the event, which was chaired by Faruque Hassan, chairman, board of trustees, BUFT.

Professor Ayub Nabi Khan, acting vice-chancellor, BUFT, was present as guest of honour at the event, along with Mohammed Nasir, member, BoT of BUFT; and Mufti Saiful Islam, khatib, Masjid-Ut-Taqwa, Dhanmondi, as special Guests.

Speakers emphasised the significance of global unity, human rights and youth involvement in promoting peace and justice for Palestine.

Officer, faculty, students and guests expressed solidarity through speeches, discussions and exhibition performances.

Yousef SY Ramadan appreciated BUFT for organising an event that embodied humanity and global solidarity, while Faruque Hassan lauded it as a reflection of BUFT’s commitment to nurturing socially conscious and globally aware students.

The event concluded with a documentary screening, art exhibition and photo gallery walk, conveying a powerful message of unity, compassion and lasting support for Palestine.
