A total of 382 students collected nomination papers against 23 posts in the long-awaited Rajshahi University Central Students’ Union elections scheduled for September 25.

On Wednesday, the last day for collecting nomination papers for the polls, 41 students collected nomination papers for various posts in the RUCSU elections to be held after a break of 35 years.


RUCSU chief election commissioner professor F Nazrul Islam told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that 85 students collected nomination papers for five Senate student representative posts while about 750 students collected nomination papers for different posts in the hall union elections across 17 halls.

He said that the candidates would be able to submit the nomination papers till September 7, while the preliminary list of candidates would be published on September 10, and the final list on September 14.

Meanwhile, the collection of dope test samples from candidates participating in the polls concluded on Wednesday.

On the last day, 200 candidates submitted their samples, bringing the total number of candidates tested to 841.

Mafruha Siddika Lipi, chief medical officer at the RU Medical Centre, said that they had completed the collection of dope test samples from all candidates on Wednesday.

‘The results from the previously collected samples have already been prepared while the results from the samples submitted on Wednesday will be forwarded to the RUCSU election commission by next Sunday,’ she added.
