North South University’s office of external affairs hosted the IELTS scholarship award ceremony, celebrating the achievements of outstanding students in English proficiency, at the NSU in Dhaka on Monday.

This year’s IELTS scholarship winner Syeda Fatema Rahman was recognised for her remarkable accomplishment, said a press release.


Sharing her experience, Fatema expressed that her IELTS preparation played a pivotal role in securing admission to the prestigious University of Chicago.

The ceremony was graced by Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, vice-chancellor of North South University, who presented the award and emphasised the significance of English proficiency in today’s global education landscape.

Maxim Raimann, exams director of British Council Bangladesh, was also present at the ceremony.

He highlighted the strong collaboration between the NSU and the British Council in promoting global opportunities for students.

He also expressed that initiatives like the IELTS scholarship encouraged students to aim higher and reflect the transformative impact of quality English language education.

The scholarship includes a cash prize of Tk 25,000.
