BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology International Model United Nations 2025 was opened with a ceremony at the BUFT Auditorium on Thursday, with a three-day debate, cultural exchange and collaborative problem-solving.
The event was inaugurated by Faruque Hassan, chairman of the BUFT board of trustees, who attended as chief guest and commended the conference for fostering youth leadership and global awareness, said a press release.
Other speakers included M Kafil Uddin Ahmed, managing director of Rashid Group; Professor Ayub Nabi Khan, acting vice-chancellor; ANM Rafiqul Alam, director of Student Welfare; and Faruk Ahmed, asssistant professor and BUFTMUNA Club adviser.
Secretary-general Sumiya Hafiz Pioshy declared BUFTIMUN 2025 open. Delegates then engaged in their first committee sessions under the theme Harmonising Compassion, Diplomacy, and Solidarity in the Quest for Sustainable Peace and Comprehensive Security to Redress Global Divides.
The second day will feature continued committee work and cultural night, showcasing vibrant performances and BUFT鈥檚 signature fashion show.
The final day will conclude with closing committee sessions, an awards ceremony, and the elegant Gala Night.
