Vice-chancellor of the University of Dhaka Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan at a programme on Sunday urged the students to acquire knowledge of different disciplines to build themselves as skilled workforce.

‘You should give attention to your studies alongside extra-curricular activities,’ he said at the orientation programme of the students of different faculties at the Teachers-Students Centre on the university campus, said a DU press release.


DU pro-VC for education Professor Mahmud Ahmed attended the programme as special guest, while dean of the faculty of business studies Mahmud Osman Imam, dean of the faculty of fine arts Professor Azharul Islam Sheikh, among others, also were present on the occasion.

The DU VC said, ‘Research is a very crucial part of higher education. So, students must focus on research based education’. He also called upon the students to develop network with students and professionals of both national and international levels.

Niaz Ahmed Khan said ‘A good network can help you ensure better access to the global job markets’.
