
Banophool Adibashi Green Heart College celebrated the World Environment Day 2025 with a series of events under the theme ‘No more plastic pollution, it’s time to stop it’, reaffirming its commitment to environmental protection and sustainability on July 24.
The day’s programmes included a children’s painting competition, tree plantation, and a discussion session to raise awareness about plastic pollution and the broader environmental crisis, said a press release. The celebration began with a moment of remembrance for the victims of the Milestone Tragedy.
Founder and chairman of the college’s governing body, Ven Prajnananda Mahathera, inaugurated the event by planting a tree on the college premises. He was joined by faculty, staff, and students, who also took part in the tree plantation drive.
College rector Professor Tarun Kanti Barua and principal Sanjoy Kumar Dhar, along with other officials, visited the painting exhibition where young participants expressed powerful environmental messages through their artwork.
A special discussion was held to highlight the urgency of environmental awareness. It was presided over by Professor Tarun Kanti, with participation from key members of the governing body and faculty, including Assistant Professor Md Zakidul Islam and Lecturer Mustakiya Mahmuda Parvin. Senior assistant teacher Tahmina conducted the session.
