Bangladesh University of Professionals held the 17th annual senate meeting at the Bijay Auditorium of the university in Dhaka on Thursday.

BUP vice-chancellor and senate chairman Major General Md Mahbub-ul Alam presided over the meeting, said a press release.


BUP VC thanked the outgoing members and welcomed the newly appointed members at the beginning of the meeting.

Conducted by BUP registrar Brigadier General Md Rabbi Ahsan, BUP treasurer Air Commodore Md Reza Emdad Khan put forward the revised 2024-2025 fiscal year budget amounting to Tk 134 crore 8 lakh and announced a Tk 134 crore 97 lakh budget for the fiscal year 2025-2026 that was unanimously approved by the senate members.

Besides, the 17th annual report was presented at the meeting, which was also unanimously approved by the senate members.

BUP VC said that although BUP was relatively new, its students, faculty members and researchers had earned national and international recognition through their achievements in competitions, seminars, workshops and research-driven activities.

‘To achieve excellence in modern education, research, and innovation and to elevate the university to international standard, BUP has formulated a well-defined Academic Strategic Plan–2050,’ he said.

He also said that initiatives had been taken to modernise curricula, implement outcome based education curriculum, enhance research, innovation, publications, and research-support capabilities.

The VC informed the senate that BUP was working to energise research, innovation and consultancy activities through the integrated faculty and affiliated institutions under BUP Research Centre.

‘BUP regularly publishes five journals each year to disseminate locally and internationally generated research knowledge, which has earned widespread recognition,’ he noted, emphasising BUP’s unwavering commitment to nurturing students not only in academic competence but also as disciplined, ethical, and responsible citizens.

Among the senate members, secretaries from different ministries, high officials from Bangladesh Armed Forces, and high officials of BUP were also present in the meeting.
