
Vice-chancellor of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University Professor Md Abdul Latif at a training programme in Dhaka on Sunday said that to provide food for the country’s increasing population, farmers should apply fertiliser in the right amount at the right time.
‘In the past, the soil’s organic matter was increased by rotting rice husks, leaves of the fenugreek and others in the soil, but now it is not possible. To provide food for the country’s increasing population, farmers should apply fertiliser in the right amount at the right time,’ he said at training on ‘recommended dosage and application of fertiliser’ at the Savar Upazila Agriculture Office.
The training was organised by the Directorate of Outreach Programme of the university, said a press release.
Thirty-five farmers participated in the training. Out of which 25 were male and 10 were female.
The farmers were trained on the recommended dosage and application of fertilisers by associate director of the Directorate of Outreach Programme Professor Muhammad Humayun Kabir, Savar Agricultural Extension officer Mohayminul Islam.
Presided over by SAU Outreach Programme director Professor Mohammad Zamshed Alam, SAU treasurer Professor Md Abul Bashar and director of IQAC Professor Md Rajab Ali and Savar Upazila Agricultural officer Al-Mamun were present as special guests at the training.
