
Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University signed a memorandum of understanding with Planten Agro Limited in Dhaka on Saturday.
Planten Agro is a subsidiary of the Dutch Agricultural Technology Company. They monitor farms based on satellites. This technology has been invented by the Dutch Agricultural Technology Company. Through mobile apps, moisture levels of cultivated land, biomass detection, and chlorophyll levels can be monitored and satellite data can be collected, said a press release.
Professor Md Abdul Latif, vice-chancellor of the SAU, was present as chief guest at the event.
He said that this was a state-of-the-art technology. ‘To keep pace with the current era, our students need to be trained on it. Plantain Agro will play a leading role in this regard.’
SAU pro-VC Professor Md Belal Hossain attended as special guest while its proctor Professor Md Arfan Ali attended as guest of honour at the event.
Managing director of Planten Agro Limited Golam Faruk, general manager Debashish Bhattacharya, chief innovation officer Nasir Ahmed, head of finance Abab Salehin and head of market development of Planten Agro Md Jasim Uddin were present at the event, which was coordinated by SAU horticulture Professor Jasim Uddin.
