
Cancer treatment services through radiotherapy have been resumed at Bangladesh Medical University using the advanced technology device linear accelerator.
In this regard, the oncology department of BMU held an inaugural ceremony at the university on Sunday, said a press release.
BMU vice-chancellor Professor Dr Md Shahinul Alam was present as chief guest while pro-VC for research and development Professor Dr Md Mujibur Rahman Howlader, treasurer Professor Dr Nahrin Akhtar, registrar Professor Dr Md Nazrul Islam and founding chairman of the oncology department Professor Dr Syed Akram Hossain spoke as special guests at the ceremony.
Presided over by chairman of the oncology department, Professor Dr Md Nazir Uddin Mollah, the program was moderated by the associate professor of the department, Dr Md Jamal Uddin, and was attended by former chairman Professor Dr Sarwar Alam, associate professor Dr Sadia Sharmin and additional director for audit Khandaker Shafiqul Hasan.
Shahinul Alam urged to conduct medical education, service and research activities in the public interest, calling on all those concerned in providing services to stop discriminatory behaviour towards patients.
He also emphasised on informing the patient about the cost of treatment of cancer patients, giving the patient鈥檚 opinion and taking decisions and informing the patient or her or his relatives about the possible progress of treatment.
