
Bangladesh Medical University celebrated the 28th University Day through rally, discussion meeting, granting research grants and serving quality food to patients on the university in Dhaka on Wednesday.
Two new staff buses were also inaugurated to mark the day, said a press release.
The main theme of the day was Innovate-Educate-Elevate Dreams to the Reality.
BMU vice-chancellor Professor Dr Md Shahinul Alam inaugurated a rally, which started from B Block, passed through the Super Specialised Hospital and ended in front of C Block.
A research grant distribution ceremony was organised at Shaheed Dr Milton Hall.
Moderated by BMU deputy registrar Dr AKM Kabir Ahmed Riaz, the VC, pro-VC for administration Professor Dr Md Abul Kalam Azad, pro-VC for research and development Professor Dr Md Mujibur Rahman Howlader, treasurer Professor Dr Nahrin Akhtar, among others, spoke at the ceremony. Research grants were distributed among 56 teachers and doctors.
In the afternoon, a discussion was organised on the topics of Innovate-Educate-Elevate Degrees to the Reality and post-uprising Bangladesh Medical University. The discussion was attended by special assistant to the chief adviser Professor Dr Md Sayedur Rahman as chief guest.
Professor Sayedur Rahman expressed his opinions on the development and quality improvement of education, research, medical services of this university, emphasising on various issues, including digitalisation, launching e-log books, launching telemedicine, and creating specialist nurses.
Shahinul Alam said that Bangladesh Medical University would be established at a different height in higher medical education, quality medical services and innovative research according to the expectations of the people and patients of Bangladesh, embodying the post-uprising spirit.
