Bangladesh Krishi Bank managing director Sanchia Binte Ali at a seminar on Thursday presented a roadmap outlining activities of the bank and challenges of financing risky agricultural sector, aiming for a way forward.
The MD made the presentation at the seminar titled ‘Role of Bangladesh Krishi Bank in Agricultural Development: Roadmap to Overcoming Challenges’ held at the bank’s head office.
Financial Institutions Division secretary Nazma Mobarek was present as chief guest at the event.
She said that Bangladesh Krishi Bank as a policy bank of the Government and it had been playing a particularly significant role in the agricultural economy of the country by disbursing loan in climate-dependent and high-risk sectors and sustaining agricultural production to achieve food self-sufficiency as well as implementing various government initiatives.
She emphasised the importance of proper implementation of the presented roadmap to overcome the existing challenges, ensuring the continuous development of the bank and driving it towards profitability.
Bangladesh Krishi Bank chairman Mohammad Zahid Hossain presided over the event.
Additional secretary Md Sayed Kutub was present as a special speaker.
FID joint secretary and BKB board member Maksuma Akter Banu and joint secretary Sheikh Farid, BKB deputy managing directors Md Abdur Rahim and Mohd Khaleduzzaman were also present.
