
Al-Arafah Islami Bank’s Palashbari branch organised a public agricultural investment distribution programme at Sadullapur in Gaibandha.
At the event, a total of Tk 25.2 million was distributed among 334 farmers.
Executive director of Bangladesh Bank, Bogura office, Md Sakhawat Hossain, attended the programme as chief guest.
Executive vice-president of the bank AKM Amzad Hossain was present as special guest.
Senior officials of the bank, along with local businessmen, teachers, and distinguished personalities of Sadullapur, were also present.
The programme was presided over by ASM Robiul Islam, manager of the Palashbari branch.
In his speech, chief guest Md Sakhawat Hossain emphasised the importance of timely disbursement of agricultural investments, proper utilisation of funds, availing cultivation loans at a concessional profit rate of 4 per cent and ensuring timely repayment of liabilities. He also urged other local bankers to step forward in agricultural investment distribution.
Speakers at the event drew the attention of Bangladesh Bank to further reduce the profit rate of agricultural investment for farmers engaged in cultivating winter crops.
