M Zubaidur Rahman has been elected chairman of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC, said a press release.
He was elected chairman at a board meeting of the bank held on Wednesday.
Earlier, he served as independent director of the bank.
He started his career as a lecturer at the Department of Finance in Dhaka University back in 1975. Then he obtained his PhD in Finance from the University of Manchester, UK.
During his tenure at the World Bank, he led design and implementation of a programme called 鈥楽tandards and Codes Initiative鈥� to strengthen the international financial architecture.
