
At least six factories under the Tusuka Group on Sunday were declared shut for an indefinite period amid workers protect for allowances.
The authority of the group hanged notices declaring shut of the units for indefinite period fearing vandalism in the factory.
They said that the workers went to the factories on Saturday but observed work abstention for demands, including the night bills, attendance bonus and tiffin bill hike.
The factories are Tusuka Jeans Ltd, Tusuka Trousers Ltd, Tusuka Processing, Tusuka Packaging, Tusuka Demin and Tusuka Washing.
Factory authority said that they would keep the factory shut until the situation improved. ‘Factories will resume if production environment restored.’
Tusuka general manager Masum Hossain said that they were informed that some workers with outsiders might attack the factory on Sunday. ‘To avoid the untoward incident, the factories were declared shut.’
Gazipur industrial police official Md Abu Taled said that the factory management assured workers to meet some of their demands, but the workers demanded more. ‘Fearing unrest, the factory authority declared shut of their units.’
Although no violence has been reported, additional police have been deployed to avoid any untoward situation.
