
The Bangladesh U-16 boy鈥檚 tennis team began the Junior Davis Cup pre-qualifying 2025 competition with a promising 2-1 victory against Pacific Oceania in Kuching, Malaysia on Sunday.
On the opening day of the singles event, Bangladesh鈥檚 Kabbo Gayan beat Pacific Oceania鈥檚 Sekalt Mataihu by 6-3, 6-3 sets while Tanvir Mun Tushar lost to Austin Kenny by 6-3, 5-7, 2-6 sets.
The decisive moment came in the doubles, where Kabbo and Mohammad Rajib duo won against Mataihu and Li Tham Tanui by 6-2, 6-2 sets听
Bangladesh will face Guam in their next group match.
The participating teams are Indonesia, Kuwait, Cambodia, Singapore, Macau, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, Bahrain, Mongolia, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Maldives, Guam, Pacific Oceania, Bangladesh, Philippines, Vietnam, Lebanon, and Lao.
The 23 countries are battling for the two coveted spots for the qualifying rounds in Kazakhstan in May.
