Economist M Masrur Reaz was on Tuesday appointed as chairman to the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission for a four-year term.
According to a circular issued by the Financial Institutions Division, the order would be implemented immediately.
Masrur is the founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Policy Exchange Bangladesh, a research organisation.
Masrur Reaz previously worked as a senior economist in the finance, competitiveness, and innovation global practice of the World Bank Group for ten years during 2010-2020, according to the International Growth Centre, where he is a policy adviser.
Shibli Rubayat-Ul Islam resigned as BSEC chairman on August 11, following the resignation of Sheikh Hasina as prime minister and her fleeing from the country.
