
The main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Friday dissolved its city unit committees of Dhaka South, Dhaka North, Chattogram and Barishal, and the central committee of its youth front, Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal.
The party dissolved the committees through a press release issued by its senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
The release said that the new committees of the party units would be announced soon.
In August 2021, the party chairperson’s adviser and freedom fighter Abdus Salam was made convener of a 49-member convening committee of Dhaka South City unit of BNP while Juba Dal leader Rafiqul Alam Mojnu was made its member secretary.
BNP chairperson’s another adviser and former DUCSU VP Amanullah Aman was made convener of a 47-member convening committee of the party’s Dhaka north city unit, while former national footballer Aminul Islam was made its member secretary.
On August 6, 2016, the party announced its Chattogram city unit with Shahadat Hossain, Abu Sufian and Abul Hashem Bakkar as president, vice-president and general secretary respectively.
In January 2022, the party announced a convening committee for its Barishal city unit.
Moniruzzaman Farroque was made the convener of a 42-member convening committee while Mir Jahidul Kabir Jahid its member secretary.
In February 2022, the party formed a committee for Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal led by former Chhatra Dal president Sultan Salahuddin Tuku as the youth front’s president and Monayem Munna as the general secretary.
