Asfar Khair, vice-chair of Bengal Group Ltd, has been appointed as the first honorary consul of the Kingdom of Cambodia in Bangladesh by the ministry of foreign affairs of Cambodia.
An official letter of exequatur was ceremonially handed over to Asfar by the ministry of foreign affairs, on behalf of Bangladesh government, during a formal event held at the state guest house Meghna on Tuesday, said a press release.
In his capacity as honorary consul, Asfar is dedicated to promoting and strengthening the bilateral relationship between Cambodia and Bangladesh. He intends to focus on enhancing cooperation in key sectors such as trade, commerce, investment, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, food security, manpower, tourism, aviation, and cultural exchange etc.
Asfar has expressed his commitment to building a long-term, mutually beneficial partnership between the two nations, reflecting shared interests and regional cooperation.
