Mobile network operator Banglalink has introduced solar power at data centre in Gazipur, said a press release.
With the installation of an 80KW solar power system at its Gazipur Facility, Banglalink is now the first MNO in Bangladesh to integrate green energy into a data centre, it said.
Huseyin Turker, chief technology and information officer of Banglalink, said, 鈥楾hrough this initiative, Banglalink has set a national benchmark for sustainable innovation that will drive significant environmental impact.鈥�
鈥楾his new system will produce around 0.13 Gigawatt-hour of clean energy every year. It will help reduce carbon emissions by 60 tons annually and save the company about USD 12,600 each year in energy costs,鈥� he said.
He added, 鈥楾he setup utilises 9,000 square feet of previously unused rooftop space. More importantly, Banglalink expects rapid ROI by aiming to recover the full cost of the project.鈥�
