
Bangladesh’s national security adviser Khalilur Rahman, also the chief adviser’s high representative on Rohingya affairs, will attend the military parade on September 3 in the Chinese capital
Beijing, marking China’s 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
Chinese assistant foreign minister Hong Lei made the announcement at a press conference at the press centre of the commemorative event in Beijing on Thursday.
Leaders of 26 countries, including Russian president Vladimir Putin, Pakistani prime minister Shehbaz Sharif and North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un will attend the parade, he said.
‘Over 80 years ago, as the pillar of resistance in the main theater in the East during the World Anti-Fascist War, China made enormous national sacrifice and coordinated with and supported allied countries in their fight, making major historic contribution to the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War,’ said Hong Lei.
China will also hold a gala at the Great Hall of the People on the evening of September 3, when enchanting cultural performances will be held as part of the victory day celebrations.
Chinese culture and tourism vice-minister Lu Yingchuan, Major General Wu Zeke, deputy director of the Leading Group Office of Military Parade and deputy director-general of the Operations Bureau of the Joint Staff Department of the Central Military Commission, and Xia Linmao, standing committee member of the Communist Party of China from Beijing Municipal Committee and executive vice mayor of Beijing, were also present at the press conference.
According to China, 35 million people were killed by Japanese aggressors between 1931 and 1945 during World War II.
